Choosing Unique Groomsmen Gifts For Your Bridal Party
So, you are getting married and you need to buy gifts for your groomsmen? The first thing would be to think about whom your groomsmen are and what each one of them would like. Most grooms will buy one gift for all his groomsmen and I am not sure that is the best way to shop. Each of your groomsmen is also a friend which means that you have spent time with them. You know your friends so shop accordingly. Not every one of your groomsmen is going to want a tie. If you don’t know what to get for your friends, timeless classics, and personalized gifts are always a nice touch. Items such as pocket watches, flasks, poker sets, and beer mugs are ideal candidates because most men are going to enjoy said items.
A good example of unique groomsmen gifts would be cuff links. Twenty-seven years ago my father was part of a cousin’s wedding as a groomsman, and as a gift for the groomsmen they were all handed cuff links with their initials engraved in, which were to be worn the day of the wedding. They were very appealing to look at, silver, with calligraphy used as the template. Even though decades passed, my father held on to these cuff links, and soon handed these cuff links down to myself (seeing as my initials were the same as his). It was a memorable gift that I will always cherish, and one day hope to hand to my first born son, whose initials will remain the same. It will be a heartfelt family tradition that all started twenty-seven years ago with a pair of cuff links. Perhaps your groomsmen will start the same tradition, handing father to son, or grandfather to grandson, and it all began with a gift at your wedding.
Leather bound items are always popular. Black leather is easily maintained, and will last long as a belt wrapping on a flask (another good gift!). Templates on popular items such as flasks, and pocket watches, can be personalized with engravings of names or initials. Most of these items will come in either silver-plated, or gold-plated, it really depends what style your wedding is and mostly on the person in which you are giving the item to. A poker set would have been a great gift handed to myself at my cousin’s wedding last year, but instead he choose to hand out a group gift, key chains. Not to say that the gift was unappreciated but the best man did receive a better gift than every one else, which was a poker case, filled with gold-plated poker chips, and bound in black leather. His initials were engraved in a gold plate on top of the case, and the cards where printed in Old English font with no numbers, just the suit images.
Many grooms have already decided that at their wedding most of the groomsmen will receive personalized pocket watches to symbolize the time spent together as friends, and the future hopefully to come.
